Connecting drivers with local rental companies
4Drive Bulgaria is a booking platform for travellers who need a vehicle in Bulgaria. We work with local rental companies in coastal resorts, mountain towns, and major cities. Our focus is on no-deposit vehicles and transparent pricing, so you know what you pay before you book.
We don't own a fleet. Instead, we connect you with established rental operators in each location. You book through our site, receive a voucher, and collect the keys from the local company. The rental agreement is signed at pickup, and the vehicle is inspected with the operator's staff.
Start by entering your pickup location, dates, and times. The search returns available vehicles from our partner companies in that area. Each listing shows the booking advance due online, the balance payment method accepted at pickup, and any extras like child seats or cross-border permits.
Once you select a vehicle, you pay the booking advance by card on our site. Cash is not accepted online. You receive a voucher by email with the rental company's name, address, contact details, and your reservation reference. The voucher states whether pickup is at a counter, airport terminal, or hotel delivery point.
At the scheduled time, you present the voucher and your driving licence. The rental company checks the documents, inspects the vehicle with you, notes any existing marks in the rental agreement, and hands over the keys. You pay the balance using the method specified in your voucher - debit card, cash, or credit card, depending on the vehicle. The company may place a hold on your card for the excess, but many vehicles on our platform require no deposit at all.
We cover the main hubs and holiday destinations across Bulgaria. On the coast, you can book in Burgas, Varna, Sunny Beach, Golden Sands, Nesebar, Sozopol, Pomorie, and Obzor. Inland, we serve Sofia, Plovdiv, and other regional centres. Airport pickup is available at Sofia Airport (SOF), Burgas Airport, and Varna Airport.
Each location has its own rental companies. A booking in Sofia connects you with a Sofia-based operator; a booking in Sunny Beach connects you with a Black Sea coast operator. The voucher always includes the exact address and directions.
Many vehicles on our platform require no deposit - no hold on your card when you collect the keys. This is a policy choice by certain rental companies, not a change to the insurance or excess. The excess stated in your voucher still applies if the vehicle is damaged; the difference is that no funds are blocked in advance.
For travellers without a high-limit credit card, no-deposit options remove a common barrier. You can use a debit card for the balance payment and drive away without worrying about frozen funds. Not all vehicles are no-deposit - the requirement is listed clearly for each car during the booking process.
Local rental companies offer extras you can add at the time of booking or pickup. A second driver costs an additional fee and must present a valid licence. Child seats are available in various sizes. If you plan to drive on highways, you need a vignette sticker, which can be added to your booking or purchased at petrol stations. Cross-border travel to Romania, Greece, Serbia, North Macedonia, or Turkey is often permitted with a written permit arranged in advance.
