These terms govern your use of the 4Drive Bulgaria booking platform and the subsequent vehicle rental provided by local rental companies. By completing a booking through our website, you accept these conditions in full. Please read them carefully before proceeding with your reservation.
4Drive Bulgaria operates a booking platform that connects customers with local rental companies across Bulgaria. We facilitate the reservation process and collect advance payment on behalf of the rental company. The actual rental agreement is a separate contract between you and the local rental company, executed at the time you collect the vehicle.
These terms cover the booking process, payment, and our relationship with you as the customer. The rental agreement you sign at the desk will contain additional terms specific to the rental company, including insurance options, permitted use, and damage liability. Both sets of terms apply to your overall transaction.
Our role is limited to booking administration. The local rental company is responsible for vehicle condition, breakdown assistance, damage assessment, and all operational matters during your rental period.
When you complete a booking on our website, you receive a confirmation voucher by email. This voucher contains details of your reservation, the rental company's contact information, collection instructions, and the balance amount due at pick-up. Present this voucher when collecting your vehicle.
At the collection point - whether at an airport desk, city office, or hotel delivery location - you will sign a rental agreement directly with the local rental company. This agreement is the legal contract governing your use of the vehicle. Read it thoroughly before signing.
The rental company will inspect the vehicle with you and record any existing damage on the agreement. Check the exterior, interior, tyres, and equipment carefully. Any damage not noted at this stage may be attributed to you upon return. The company will provide you with their emergency contact details and instructions for breakdown or accident procedures.
At the time of booking, you pay an advance online by debit or credit card. This advance secures your reservation and is transferred to the rental company. The remaining balance is due when you collect the vehicle. Online payment by cash is not available.
The method accepted for the balance payment depends on the specific vehicle you have booked. Some vehicles allow payment by debit card or cash, others require a credit card. The accepted payment methods are shown during the booking process and confirmed in your voucher. Check these details before your trip.
For vehicles requiring a credit card at pick-up, alternative methods are not accepted by the rental company. If you do not hold a credit card, consider increasing the daily limit on your debit card or selecting a vehicle that accepts debit card payment.
The rental company may block a deposit on your card at the time of collection. This is a security hold, not a charge, and is released after you return the vehicle in the agreed condition. The deposit amount and the type of card required vary by vehicle, not by vehicle class. Your voucher specifies these requirements.
Deposit conditions are independent of insurance coverage. Even if you purchase additional insurance to reduce the excess, a deposit may still be required. The two are separate parameters set by the rental company based on vehicle value and risk assessment.
The deposit is released within the timeframe determined by your card issuer, typically seven to fourteen days after return. 4Drive Bulgaria does not control this process. If the vehicle is returned with damage or missing fuel, the rental company may make a claim against the deposit according to the terms of your rental agreement.
The main driver must present a valid driving licence at collection, held for at least one year. An International Driving Permit is recommended for non-EU licences and may be required by some rental companies. Bring your passport or ID card as proof of identity.
If you wish to add a second driver, inform the rental company at pick-up. This service incurs an additional fee. Both drivers must be present with their documents, and both names will be recorded on the rental agreement. Only named drivers are permitted to operate the vehicle.
Age and experience requirements vary by vehicle. Your voucher states any minimum age or licence tenure rules applicable to your booking. The rental company will verify these at collection and may refuse to release the vehicle if requirements are not met, without refund of advance payment.
You must operate the vehicle in accordance with the rental agreement and local traffic laws. Bulgaria drives on the right. Speed limits are 50 km/h in urban areas, 90 km/h outside urban areas, 120 km/h on expressways, and 140 km/h on motorways. A vignette sticker is required for all roads except municipal streets; purchase one at the border or petrol stations.
The vehicle may be driven on paved roads and designated routes. Off-road use, racing, and towing are prohibited unless specifically authorised. Some vehicles, such as pickup trucks with four-wheel drive, are suitable for gravel mountain roads and forest tracks. Check your rental agreement for permitted use.
Cross-border travel into Romania, Greece, Serbia, North Macedonia and Turkey requires written permission arranged in advance with the rental company. This permission must be requested during booking or by contacting the company before your trip. Unauthorised cross-border travel may void your insurance and result in penalties. Travel to other countries is generally not permitted.

Cancellation terms depend on when you cancel relative to your pick-up date. The advance payment may be partially or fully refunded according to the cancellation policy stated at the time of booking. Contact us promptly if you need to cancel.
If you fail to collect the vehicle or arrive more than two hours late without notifying the rental company, your booking may be treated as a no-show and the advance payment forfeited. Collection times are specified in your voucher. If your plans change, call the rental company using the contact details provided.
4Drive Bulgaria is liable for the accuracy of booking information and the processing of advance payment. We are not liable for the condition of the vehicle, breakdown delays, accidents, fines, or any matter arising during the rental period. These are the responsibility of the rental company under your rental agreement.
The rental agreement specifies insurance coverage, excess amounts, and exclusions. You are responsible for any damage or loss not covered by insurance, including damage to tyres, glass, undercarriage, and interior, as well as lost keys, wrong fuel, and administrative fines. Read the agreement carefully and consider purchasing additional coverage if offered.
We do not guarantee the availability of specific vehicle models, colours, or features. Your booking is for a vehicle category. The rental company will provide a vehicle of the specified type or a free upgrade if the category is unavailable.
If you experience any issue with the vehicle or service during your rental, contact the rental company immediately using the details in your voucher. They are best placed to resolve operational problems on the spot.

We take complaints seriously and will investigate your concerns thoroughly. These terms are governed by the laws of Bulgaria. Any dispute arising from your booking or use of our platform is subject to the jurisdiction of Bulgarian courts. The rental agreement you sign with the local rental company is also governed by Bulgarian law.
By proceeding with a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these terms and conditions in their entirety. We reserve the right to amend these terms at any time. The version in effect at the time of your booking applies to that transaction.
